Russ Burks

Founder & Managing Director

Russ Burks co-founded Ansley Capital in 1999 as a boutique investment banking firm providing strategic consulting and investment banking services to the outsourced business services market.  Over time, Ansley has refined its focus to healthcare information technology and technology-enabled healthcare services.  Russ also co-founded Ansley Securities LLC, Ansley Capital’s wholly owned FINRA-registered broker-dealer, in 1999.

Russ has extensive experience analyzing the economic fundamentals of a client’s business and operational models and then incorporating those insights into a comprehensive analytical framework that is easily articulated to the investment community. While focusing on investment banking execution fundamentals, Russ also has significant operational experience. He has served as an interim CFO and financial consultant for several of Ansley Capital’s clients.

In addition to his sell-side M&A experience, Russ has represented several firms as the financial advisor for buy-side M&A, leveraged buyouts, and debt and equity financing transactions with financial and strategic investors. Throughout his career, Russ has developed relationships with a wide array of senior executives of major healthcare technology companies and investment firms.

Prior to launching Ansley Capital, Russ was a Vice President at BT Alex. Brown, the investment banking subsidiary of Bankers Trust Corporation (later acquired by Deutsche Bank). Russ spent the majority of his career at Bankers Trust in private equity and leveraged finance, handling significant transactions including: Bankers Trust’s investment in the buyout of Northwest Airlines, the refinancing of American Restaurant Group and Playtex Family Holdings, the leveraged employee buy-out of the largest Avis franchisee, and the financing of Public Storage Management Inc.’s management fee income stream. Throughout his tenure at Bankers Trust, Russ gained broad experience in company valuation and capital structure optimization.

Prior to joining Bankers Trust, Russ worked on the B-1 Bomber program at Rockwell International’s North American Aircraft Operations Division as a Project Engineer (conventional weaponization) and a member of the Technical Staff (thermodynamics).

Russ holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in Mechanical Engineering, with Distinction, from the University of Michigan. Russ is a registered representative with FINRA and currently holds the Series 7, Series 24, Series 63, Series 79 and Series 99 licenses.
